Some faults I do have include the AI promotion/demotions setup. Otherwise it got kinda annoying when you are trying to play the game and can’t because your short-season team needs another OF and you need to adjust the whole system. The best way I played was to have the computer control the minor league promotion, lineups and depth charts, and signings while you keep the focus on the big league club. During the game you can have it set up so that you control everything from the top down, from setting lineups and depth charts and the rotation (minor leagues and major leagues), to promotions and signings at all levels to game decisions. There are a lot of ways to customize the game so that it can play certain ways based on what you want. (Feel free to play this while celebrating your World Series victory). Your team will probably stink in the beginning (unless you change the rules on the expansion draft) and it is much more satisfying to bring a team from the bottom to a world series victory. This was much more of a challenge as you start the game with an empty roster, have to go through an expansion draft, and then fill a minor league system that is completely empty! After the game loads, go to league setup and click Expand League and hold Draft. To do this, just start the game as unemployed, GM only, and turn on commissioner mode (you can turn this off afterwards). I needed a better challenge, so I expanded the league and made the Portland Stars and the Charlotte Carolinas (have to do two teams). The game also starts with player ratings as 1-20, but I changed it to the standard 20-80, but can be changed to 1-100, 1-10, or Stars. I first started the game as the GM of Tampa (what a surprise I know) and had a blast, but my team still did very well, even with injuries, harder trades, and increased difficulty. When you first start up OOTP 14 there are many options to start with, starting in the major leagues you can be the GM of a major league team, or the coach of any team (minor league or major league). Improved AI for player evaluation, contract negotiation, in-game decisions, and trading.Such as when they gain an uptick in velocity or learn a new pitch Player Development Reports, these can be sent to you every month and will tell you the progress of your prospects and notable other players.Up to date roster sets and every player is individually rated thanks to Baseball Prospectus’ PECOTA system.Last year game was great, but this year is vastly improved from before. I stuck to MLB the Show for a while (I still play that a lot too) but when I started playing OOTP, I instantly enjoyed the game. The game stunk, didn’t run well, the AI was faulty, and the game was full of bugs. A few years ago, MLB Front Office Manager came out and I bought the game right as it game out because I was excited about the possibility of playing as a GM and running my team (because who doesn’t?). I was first introduced to Out of the Park (OOTP) Baseball 13 last year when one of my good friends in the industry recommended the game to me after he started playing it.

I found the balancing act between adding useful tiles and not overwhelming my hero with new enemies to be one of the best challenges in Loop Hero. Beasts inhabit the woods, vampires come down from their castles, skeletons roam the graveyards, fishmen emerge from rivers, and gargoyles fly in and land just about anywhere. The balancing act is between adding useful tiles and not overwhelming the hero with new enemies. However, along with the benefits that those tiles bring (largely minor things like boosts to attack speed for forests or a town that restores some HP when your hero passes through) come corresponding tradeoffs. As your hero fights they earn cards representing map tiles among their other loot, and the conceit is that placing these tiles makes the hero “remember” that features like forest groves, mountains, villages, rivers, and more were actually part of the world all along, restoring them to reality. So for the first few uneventful loops, well, it's a good time to fill your water glass or grab some snacks in the kitchen.īut Loop Hero soon gets you occupied and challenged – and this is where the ability to pause between battles becomes essential. This even goes for boss battles: it’s very strictly your stats vs theirs. Once you're in a fight your fate is controlled by your and your enemies' Attack Speed, Defense, and Damage stats, with a dash of whether or not the percentage chance gods give you more Crits, Counters, and Evades than the other side. In those first few minutes you won't do much, quite literally, as battles are hands-off. The correspondingly retro music's good, too, even if a few tracks play a bit too often for the couple dozen hours Loop Hero will likely take you to play through. The art in fights is more detailed, showing 8-bit warriors slugging it out with basic attack animations, though like a 1990 RPG the sprites don't vary with changes in weapon or as enemies level up. It’s inhabited only by your hero – little more than a 4-bit blob of white pixels – and a handful of bouncing green bubbles representing basic slime blob enemies. This is the most excellently surreal apocalyptic fantasy setting since Dark Souls. The map is represented with charmingly simple pixel graphics for the loop itself, which begins as a featureless, angular path through the lonely darkness. The conversations and unlockable tidbits of lore are wonderfully meandering oddities. You have strange, dreamlike conversations with the people and creatures you meet, from bandits unsure why they're stealing to goblins who have somehow remembered themselves right into existence. It's a delightfully unsettling, disorienting place where even the elaborate pixel art portraits of the bad guys aren't sure what's going on.Įverything is forgotten except, of course, your lone hero, who walks a circular path through the void, fighting monsters and - crucially - remembering things before coming back to a campfire to rest. Even abstract concepts like knowledge and permanence are vanishing into the void. Loop Hero’s world is ending nobody can remember things anymore, so those things are disappearing. I only escaped because once its stat-building puzzles are solved there’s not much more to it.īefore we even get to its strangely hypnotic and unorthodox gameplay, it has to be said that this is the most excellently surreal apocalyptic fantasy setting since Dark Souls. This exploratory experiment drew me in so deeply with its buffet of synergies and clever strategies that I lost track of time while playing more often than not. There's nothing quite like this strange combination of idle game autobattler with roguelite deckbuilding and puzzley tile placement. But what's left if you take away character control and just about everything but crunching stat numbers and filling in the map? You get Loop Hero, and it turns out to be a game full of compellingly unique ideas and a weird fantasy world that demands attention. The tactical decisions, crunching numbers, the strategizing, conserving strength for future encounters. Traditionally, some of the best stuff in an RPG is the combat. Whether someone chooses BTR or another podcast avenue, I highly recommend the experience. We’ve been able to reach out to our readers and give a voice to our writings. Last thing…I’m a staff member of Marketing For Romance Writers, and we began using BTR a month ago. That’s usually the number one reason for it not working correctly. I’m venturing to guess when he tried it, there was a flash update that interfered with this feature. BTR hosts the chat for free and it works perfectly well for us. I believe the live chat room is a HUGE advantage over other podcast procedures. For those of us using it’s free services, a 20 second advertisement isn’t the worst thing to sit through before listening to the recording. Yes, we can all agree that advertising can be annoying, but it’s no different on BTR than it is on YouTube. And while BTR gives its free members one 30-minute live recording, the recording doesn’t have to close at 30 minutes. BTR is free for those who want a free account. While I accept that everyone is welcome to their own opinion, he’s assuming too many factors. But is setting up your own podcast and hosting it on your own network going to get me the audience… nope, not without a lot of expense. I’ve been there over a year and have had up to 32,000 downloads a month, on that platform, without having to build up ten thousand other places or spend additional money advertising my show. There are newer services like Spreaker that have better sound quality than BTR, but the problem really is that BTR was there first and so they have the largest audience. And obviously Dave isn’t going to promote BTR because it’s his competition, because BTR does what he can’t do for you – get you an audience. While the quality of BTR isn’t the highest and it is true that you can have better quality doing your own podcast and using services that Dave recommends, I continue to use BTR because it’s like the Amazon of books.ĭave offers an archaic service that doesn’t reach that many people. He actually gave me a complementary membership to his great school of podcasting, and it’s something I wouldn’t recommend because it’s not necessary in today’s day and age. I know this because he contacted me via Twitter to tell me how horrible BTR is and how I should use his service. The first thing I would tell you is that Dave Jackson isn’t the person I would trust regarding anything with BlogTalkRadio because he has nothing good to say about the subject. It handles all modern raw formats – CR2, CR3, NEF, ORF, or DNG files pose no problem.Īdobe Camera Raw gives you the same tools as Lightroom. With Adobe Camera Raw you can edit raw photos non-destructively. It acts like a plugin, as it opens up in a separate window. What Is Adobe Camera Raw?Īdobe Camera Raw (in short: ACR) pops up when you open a raw file with Adobe Photoshop or Bridge. Lightroom‘s core editor is also a modified version of Camera Raw. It’s been developed together with Photoshop, and it’s a part of it, but also acts as a framework. Standard image viewer apps also open them, but can’t do more.Īdobe’s Camera Raw is one of the most capable raw editors in the market. You need special apps to view them in their full beauty. You can’t simply share raw photos right after shooting. What’s written onto the card is raw pixel data. It might get compressed, depending on your settings. However, if you choose a raw format, this procedure stops right after the digital conversion. And here is the trick – if you choose JPG conversion, the data gets processed, colored, sharpened, compressed, and written onto the memory card. Then, the amplifier sets the ISO to your required level to give a correct exposure.Īfter that, the analog-to-digital converter sends the signal to the processor. When you press the shutter button, your camera exposes light onto the sensor. To completely understand the difference, here we explain it in more detail.īut in short, the difference lies in processing and compression. Raw files contain more tonal information than a JPG file. Screens in the market are often a combination of two- or more technologies and could thus be. What’s more, this feature creates usable space above the viewing area to preserve architectural interests and provides the opportunity for camera/speaker placement. Here is an overview of main projection screen technologies. While the market is accustomed to specifying drop distance upon ordering, now vertical placement of the screen can be variable as the cables accommodate a range of drop distances up to 70" between the ceiling and the top of the screen – making ordering a snap. A suspension system in its single roller design features 3 or 4 thin cables eliminating the need for black drop – the black border above the projection screen. Tensioned Advantage with SightLine Da-Lite’s new cable drop feature, SightLine, available with the tried-and-true Tensioned Advantage (up to 177" Diagonal 16:9 and up to 182" Diagonal 16:10) electric screen, gives the impression of a floating screen. Sliding installation brackets allow mounting flexibility for easy attachment of the screen housing to the structure above the drop ceiling. It will be able to project images, writings or videos very clearly either in an indoor. Its two-stage installation option affords the screen case to be installed during the rough-in construction stage, and the screen surface assembly during the finishing stage. Daylight projector screens have a high white level brightness. The Tensioned Advantage ceiling recessed electric screen series is designed with ceiling trim in place, to conceal the rough opening eliminating the need to complete additional trim work once the screen is installed. When the platform gets an input string, EmojiCompat.process needs to transform it to have an EmojiSpan which basically tells Android to not render a portion of the string. When new emojis are added by Unicode, a new emoji requires a new glyph, or printable character, be added to the emoji font - and updating tables so the font knows which codepoint(s) display this glyph. Normally you might think of fonts as containing the character ‘e’, which is defined with strokes, but fonts are actually pretty powerful and can contain bitmaps, pngs, svgs, or even full programs - someone even made a game entirely in a font □. The picture is really just a png in a font file (you can find the emoji font we make for Android here). It is represented by a unicode codepoint(s), just like the letter ‘e’, but unicode specified that when these codepoint(s) display they should show an emoji-image instead of an ‘e’. In simple terms, a graphical emoji is really just a □️ that displays inside text. Let’s take a look at how these emojis render in AppCompat 1.3 vs AppCompat 1.4. If needed, you can disable it for a specific text view in XML or code. The emoji2 library is integrated into AppCompat 1.4 meaning all you have to do is update to AppCompat1.4 and you can display modern emojis on API 19 and higher! All TextViews in AppCompat work by default because we added automatic configuration, so it can configure itself to load the correct emoji font. New emojis are added by Unicode yearly as part of the new Android release, but unfortunately, there’s no way to ship new emoji fonts to old versions of Android prior to S. If you try to type the flexing arm and it displays an arm and a color box it is not only an issue about confusion but also misrepresentation around various skin tones which contributes to a poor experience in your app.Īs language changes, so do emojis. For example, □□ is a combination of □ and □. To make emoji more interesting, in many cases, an emoji will be a combination of other emojis. |
